In a future sci-fi world, human habitats are divided into the Upper City with highly monopolized resources and the Lower City with a harsh environment. Under strict rules, the Lower City residents barely survive by relying on a nutrient called Powder Spring. To save his daughter Renmei, who is severely ill with Underground Fever, Jin Han, a father from the Lower City, resolutely embarks on a dangerous journey to the Upper City in search of the legendary miraculous antidote, the Fountain. Successfully sneaking in, he is shocked to uncover the conspiracy behind the false prosperity maintained by the ruler Ao Lin in the Upper City: the Red Spring, on which the powerful and wealthy rely for immortality, is sustained by the life force of Lower City humans.
